What is a prepaid meter and what are the different types of prepaid meters?

A prepaid meter is a pay-as-you-go device used to measure utilities such as electricity, water, or gas. Residents recharge the meter in advance, and the utility usage is deducted from the available balance.

The Prepaid Meter module in Mygate allows residents to recharge their meters and view details such as meter readings and consumption.

There are two types of prepaid meters:

• Smart Meters: Recharge is updated automatically on the meter after payment through the Mygate app. These meters are also able to share balance and reading information to Mygate for residents to track.

• Non-Smart Meters: A recharge token is generated after payment, which must be entered on the meter display to complete the recharge.

Mygate is integrated with 25+ prepaid meter companies.
