What are convenience charges, and why am I being charged extra when making a payment through the mygate app?

Convenience charges are additional fees that are added to a transaction to cover the costs associated with providing a convenient payment method or service. We’d like to clarify that the Convenience Fee is applied when making payments through card, net banking, or wallet. These fees are not charged by mygate directly, but are imposed by the Payment Gateway Providers, Banks, and Networks for processing the transactions.

Recently, global credit card networks (such as MasterCard) have increased their processing fees, which has led to a rise in credit card transaction charges to 2.99% + GST starting in October. As a result, Payment Gateway Providers have had to adjust their pricing accordingly. As a platform provider for Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), we are required to pass on these increased costs to the residents.

We understand that fee changes can be concerning, but please note that we have no direct control over these dynamic adjustments, as they are driven by the evolving payment ecosystem.

As an alternative, you can always use UPI & Rupay debit cards, which do not incur any convenience fees.
